Geoff McCann - Yoga in St Albans & Hertfordshire

Bringing you health, vitality and tranquility

More about Geoff McCann

Geoff’s yoga life started in his teenage years, long before the current popularity of yoga and was inspired by a television programme by Richard Hittleman entitled Yoga for Health.

This was followed by many years experiencing varying traditions of yoga and martial arts. Geoff then attended an intensive teacher training course at the Sivananda Vedanata yoga ashram in Nassau. The successful completion of this course certified him as an accredited yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, one of the foremost recognized yoga governing bodies.

He has since been developing his understanding of yoga through teaching practice, sharing his experience with students in and around the Hertfordshire area. Some time was spent studying Kundalini yoga and he also holds an instructor grade in the martial art of Yoshinkan Aikido.

In addition, Geoff has trained and qualified in a number of holistic therapies, studied shiatsu for a number of years and is a member of the Shiatsu Society. More recently he travelled to France to study Thai Yoga massage under the tuition of Bruni Maslen. These techniques form the basis of Japanese massage.

The following quote outlines the ethos of his teaching approach:

"It is particularly rewarding to observe how yoga students can progress in their practice. Initially some are barely able to touch their toes or simply relax in stillness on the floor. After a short period of time they find it possible to perform quite complex balance postures and obtain a profound sense of peace and calmness at the end of a yoga session. Being able to guide students in this progression is, for me, what teaching yoga is all about

Geoff looks forward to sharing this experience with you.
